About the Author

Thomas Ganey, author of Discovering Your Intelligence, brings insights to his book from his continuing research on applied intelligence and from his broad experience as a college teacher over a period of thirty-one years. As Professor of Philosophy at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Missouri, he taught courses in philosophy, logic, and ethics as well as classes in other areas—world religions, art history, literature, English composition, and history of science—all of which allowed him an unusual opportunity to investigate intelligence from diverse points of view. His classes were popular and he was named Teacher of the Year by students at the College, among other awards.

Professor Ganey is also the author of the forthcoming book Teaching the Twelve Qualities of Active Mindpower: Educating Students in Applying Intelligence, written for educators as a companion to this present book for general readers. Prior to his career in teaching, he was a journalist, reporting for the Metro-East Journal in East Saint Louis, Illinois, and serving as a military journalist for the U.S. Air Force in Alaska. He earned his undergraduate degree at Saint Louis University, where he majored in English, and he received his master’s degree in English and education from Southern Illinois University. His home is in woods outside Hillsboro, Missouri, just south of Saint Louis.
